Chennai Super Kings CEO, Kasi Vishwanathan recently spoke to team chairman N Srinivasan on this topic. Viswanathan told, "This issue is being discussed internally, but N Srinivasan has made it clear that there will be no discussion regarding the captain and vice-captain right now. It would be better if this matter is left to the coach and captain. They should take the decision themselves and let me know and I will pass this information on to all of you. He told me, 'The captain and the coach themselves will take the decision and tell us the decision, but till then we all should remain silent."
Dhoni has made CSK champion 5 times
CSK has achieved immense success under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Chennai became champion for the first time in 2010 and the next year i.e. 2011 also. CSK had to wait 7 years to become champions for the third time as they won the next trophy in 2018. During this time, the team was also banned for 2 years due to spot fixing case. Under Dhoni's captaincy, CSK also captured the IPL trophy in 2021 and 2023.
